UPI (Unified Payment Interface) is a payment system developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and is currently only available for use within India. However, there are plans to expand the use of UPI to other countries in the future.

In recent years, NPCI has signed several agreements with other countries’ payment networks to explore the possibility of using UPI for cross-border payments. For example, in 2019, NPCI signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Payments Corporation of Nepal to enable the use of UPI in Nepal.

Additionally, NPCI has also signed agreements with payment networks in Singapore, Bhutan, and the United Arab Emirates to explore the feasibility of using UPI for cross-border payments. While these agreements are still in the exploratory phase, they indicate that NPCI is looking to expand the use of UPI beyond India in the future.
