Sony Xperia XZ1- Review and Specifications

Comments Off on Sony Xperia XZ1- Review and Specifications

Sony Xperia XZ1, the one of its kind among Sony mobile which is coming with Android 8.0 which is the latest version of Android, straight from out of the box. It is by no means any cheap device yet promises amazing features with optimal performance make it among the best buy of smart phone. High tech camera which is equivalent to a DSLR to 3D scanning capabilities is what this phone is all about. What better way to decide whether one should buy this phone or not, than to get into the details about the phone.

Pre-view:

  • Design & Display:

Look-wise, Sony has not made any remarkable changes with its Xperia ZX1 model. But it highest water and dust resistant certification and display protection with its Gorilla glass 5. It has conveniently integrated the finger print scanner near the power for ease to use. As far as thickness is concerned it has maintained the slickness making it light and easy to hold. The display screen commits to be full HD display of 5.5-inch screen size. The display is exceptionally vibrant thanks to the Triluminos display technology as seen on Sony’s TV sets, and also due to the pixel density of 424ppi, which is impressive for a screen of this size as it means that pixels are almost invisible when inspecting the display close up making watching videos a pleasurable experience.

  • Performance & Battery life:

The performance of Sony Xperia XZ1 is influenced by it cta-core Snapdragon 835 chip which when combined with 4 GB RAM and Android 8.0, makes it one of well-equipped phones among its kind. With this thrilling combination of performance with RAM, it can handle any amount of gaming with graphics to multitasking. As far as battery life is concerned, it gives around 11hrs 53 mins backup even with video playback mode, yet it does fall behind as far its competitions are weighed.

  • Camera:

Since quite some time, what a Sony phone can also provide its users with its well-equipped high-quality device cameras. The XZ1’s camera comes with “predictive” phase-detect and laser autofocus for quick and speedy shooting in all manner of lighting conditions. But what is the differentiator here is the 3D technology. What is this 3D technology and how it works? The answer is it simply uses the rear camera to map a face, head, or a freeform object, follow the dotted lines onscreen and tap confirm. However, the results are not that impressive as they are inconsistent, which I suspect is largely due to lighting conditions and the speed with which you pan the camera around the object.

Conclusion drawn so far:

Coming with a price tag of 600 US dollars and around 50,000 in Indian currency, just has the differentiator of coming with the latest version of Android and camera with 3D image technology. Is it worth paying so much? This is the question which should be given some thoughts before making the buying decision when its competition such as Apple and Samsung has better equipped phones at a slightly higher cost. Until and unless one is not a Sony- phones oriented kind of person, I do not this model of Sony will anywhere near to be a catch.
