Mumbai has always been the dream city for millions in India. Being known as the filmy capital of India, has always been known to draw people around the globe. Once in Mumbai you will realise, it is a city that never sleeps. Here I will be jotting down the popular must-visit places, without which your travel to Mumbai would seem incomplete.

Famous never to amiss places when you are traveling to Mumbai are:

  1. Gateway of India:

What is better than starting the starting your trip with rewinding some history, at this heritage site? One of the hot spots of Mumbai, which not only famous for heritage but also overlooks the all famous and ancient Taj Mahal Hotel. From street shopping at Colaba causeway just few mins walk from here, to sipping a drink at the famous Leopold cafe/ Café Mondegar, getting a ferry ride, this houses it all. Especially during monsoons, one can also experience high tides hitting the shores here adding to its beauty.

How to reach?

One can take the widely used Mumbai local train from any part till ChatrapatiShivaji Terminus Station or Church gate station. And from these stations it is a just a taxi ride away to the monument costing around Rs.30/50.

  1. Elephanta caves

7 Kms from the shore of Mumbai, is this mesmerizing heritage site comprising of rock cut caves. You would find the true depiction of historical art in these caves. It is also considered as a world heritage site by UNESCO. Moving away from the hustle bustle of the city to this island for a rewind of history. The pathway leading to the caves is full of shops of all kinds of souvenirs and eateries. Not only the site but also the ferry ride to reach this destination is a mesmerizingexperience in itself. It is also advisable to leave the island early as it becomes a maddening rush for the ferry while return as there is no option of accommodation in the island.It remains closed in Mondays only.

How to reach?

There is no direct road commutation to this heritage site. Only ferry rides are available at gateway of India towards the elephant caves. It is a two hours journey towards the cave and costs between Rs.120-150 per head. The first boat starts at 9.00 am and last ferry leaves the island around 5.30 pm.

  • Juhu Beach&Marine drive:

From savouring street food, soaking feet in the water to just lazing around is what Juhu beach famous for. While here visit the Mahesh lunch home and Gajalee for sea food delicacies, as far street food is concerned one can find wide varied of options on the beach and to quench the heat one can grab a colourful ice golas. You can also just lazily sit along the shore and witness the sunset.

The 3 km long stretch from Nariman point to Malabar hills is another starred attraction as far Mumbai is concerned. Sitting in the palm tree setting on the parchment along the shore is itself a mesmerizing experience to take.

How to reach?

One can take a Mumbai local to Santa cruz station or Ville Parle, from here the beach is 3 Kms away. A taxi ride would usually cost around Rs.70 per head.

While travelling to Marine drive, one can get down at CST station of local train and from here it is a 3km drive.

Siddhivinayak Temple

Temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha, is the most famous tourist destinations among people all over India. While in Mumbai without paying a visit to this temple, it seems your trip is inadequate. This is blessed world of peace and faith. Avoid visiting this temple in Tuesdays as it remains over crowded then. People of Mumbai have a strong belief of wishes been fulfilled on your visit to this temple.

How to reach?

While travelling through local train, Dadar is the nearest station. Taxis, autos and buses also ply to this destination.

Amidst the hustle bustle of the city, lies this beautiful garden to relax and rewind one self. Visiting Mumbai, never miss out the chance to walk the path of Hanging Gardens.

How to reach?

Charni road station is nearest station while traveling via local train, from here it is just a 15 mins drive to the garden.
